Logan Muffet Throws Park Dedication

Legendary status. We welcomed friends and family of Hoover alumni Jud Logan (Class of 1977) and Ashley Muffet-Kovacs (Class of 2005) for the dedication of the newly completed Logan Muffet Throws Park at the south end of the Hoover Athletic Complex.
As student-athletes from around the county gathered for the North Canton Dave Clegg Invitational at Memorial Stadium, we celebrated two of the greatest throwers in Vikings history with a ribbon cutting ceremony. (Ashley even agreed to give a first throw! And her husband, Olympian Joe Kovacs gave our second!)
Jud Logan
A three-sport Track & Field standout and two-letter Football athlete at Hoover High School, Jud Logan set a school discus record of 171’11”.
He continued his career at Kent State University, rising to national prominence and becoming a four-time member of the United State Olympic Team. Logan represented Team USA at the Olympic Games, Pan American Games, Goodwill Games, and World Championships, and served as Captain of the 1992 U.S. Olympic Team.
Jud later dedicated 28 years to Ashland University Track & Field, including 17 as Head Coach, mentoring 357 All-Americans and 57 individual National Champions. His teams won three consecutive National Titles, and he was named National Coach of the year three times.
His legacy of excellence, leadership, and lifelong commitment to Track & Field stands as a proud reflection of Hoover High School.
Ashley Muffet-Kovacs
A three-time Ohio State Champion in Shot Put at Hoover High School. Ashley Muffet is one of the most accomplished athletes in school history.
At the University of Kentucky, she earned four All-American Honors, was an 11-time All-SEC selection, SEC Most Valuable Player, Commissioner’s Cup Recipient, and NCAA indoor Shot Put runner-up in 2010. She set school records in the Shot Put and Discus and competed in the 2008 and 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials.
Ashley continued her impact as a collegiate coach at Murray State University, Western Kentucky University, Ohio State University, and Vanderbilt University, mentoring Big Ten and NCAA National Champions. Her excellence, leadership, and dedication embody the proud tradition of Hoover Track & Field.
Jud and Ashley didn't just break records at Hoover; they have built legacies. We can't wait to see which of our current students will be the next to leave their mark!
