Bruce began his first term in January 2014. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Mount Union and a Master of Arts degree from Kent State University. Bruce is Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Sonoco-Phoenix, a division of Sonoco Products.
Bruce is a long-time youth football coach and board member of Greater North Canton Youth Football League. Also, he is involved as a youth lacrosse coach, recently serving as an assistant boys coach for North Canton Middle School. Additionally, Bruce volunteers on professional and community committees and foundations. He is a member of Newpointe Community Church.
Bruce and his wife Stacy have two children at Hoover High School: Brennan is junior and Hallie is a freshman.
Julie M. Cross
Julie began her first term in January 2014. She is a graduate of Hoover High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University. In addition, she took graduate courses in Business Administration at The University of Texas at Arlington.
She is retired from American Airlines after 33 years of employment, has been employed over 15 years on a part-time basis with Mathie Supply, and worked several years for North Canton City Schools as a classified substitute. Julie is actively involved in the Hoover Instrumental Music Association, Hoover Sideliners and is a member of Zion United Church of Christ.
Julie and her husband John have four children. Their youngest son, Robert, is a senior at Hoover. The three oldest children are all graduates of The Ohio State University. Cameron is employed by Shell Oil Company, Sarah Cross-Nowlin has three children and Peter Cross is a First Officer for United Express.
Jordan returns to the Board in January 2016 after having served from 2008-2011. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from The Ohio State University.
Jordan is an owner of GDK & Company, a local financial services and benefits firm. He is a member of the North Canton Rotary, the Chairman of the North Canton Civil Service Commission, and a trustee of the North Canton Chamber of Commerce as well as the Stark Development Board. His is also Vice President of the North Canton Student Loan Foundation and a board member of Arts in Stark.
Jordan and Terri, his wife of 22 years, live in North Canton with their sons Matt, a junior at Hoover, and Joey, currently a freshman. Their oldest son Alec is a sophomore at Cleveland State.
Dr. Nancy E. Marion
Dr. Marion began her first term in January 2006. She was re-elected for the term beginning January, 2010.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Penn State University, an MS degree in Criminal Justice from American University, an MA degree and PhD in Political Science from State University of New York. She also attended Leadership Stark County. Nancy has been with the University of Akron since 1990 and is currently a professor and Interim Associate Chair of the Departments of Political Science and Public Administration.
Nancy is a member of the Jr. League of Canton, Inc and she regularly volunteers for the Hoover Instrumental Music Association.
Nancy and her husband Vince have been married for 25 years. They have two children who graduated from Hoover: Jacob, Class of 2012 and Anthony, Class of 2015.
Susie Hertler VanVranken
Susie began her first term in January 2016. A Hoover graduate, Susie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Ashland University.
Susie taught Health and Physical Education in Plain Local Schools and then for 17 years in North Canton City Schools before retiring in 2011. She is a member of the North Canton Hoover Alumni Association, the North Canton Hoover High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee, our District Communications Committee and is also a member of the Aultman Hospital Women's Board, where she chairs two committees.
Lifelong residents of North Canton, Susie and her husband Tom (also a Hoover alumnus) have two sons that graduated from Hoover: Jonathan ('04), currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of UT and Benjamin ('06), a May 2016 RN-BSN candidate at Walsh University.
