CHARACTER COUNTS! in North Canton

CHARACTER COUNTS! in North Canton

YOUTH IN ACTION GRANT

Do you have an idea that could improve the world, help people in need, or make our community a little better? What if you had some financial help moving the idea forward? CHARACTER COUNTS! in North Canton would like to assist in making your idea a reality. NOTE: Projects cannot be for-profit and must be student-led.

Think about the Six Pillars of Character and ways you can show others the true meaning of Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, or Citizenship. Talk to your friends, parents, neighbors, teachers, counselors, church leaders—whoever will listen—to find an adult sponsor/organization for your project idea, and fill out the application.

Examples of grant ideas:

-Helping the ill: Create wearable blankets for kids receiving chemo / other infusions at hospitals.
-Taking care of the hungry: Organize volunteers to collect and sort donated food items to pack for families in need.
-Community-building: neighborhood clean-ups, paint the pavement projects, block parties, neighborhood movie nights.
-Crime prevention activities: neighborhood yard sign campaigns, block walking clubs, creative neighborhood forums.
-Neighbor-centered projects: community story books, oral histories, photo collections.
-Neighborhood beautification: planting projects, Little Free Library workshops, public art installations.
-Classes or workshops: cultural craft or cooking classes, building workshops for youth.
