The Ohio Department of Education has recognized Northwood Elementary School, Orchard Hill Intermediate School and North Canton City Schools with the following awards.
Northwood Elementary has earned the Overall A Award for earning an overall state report card grade of A. This is due to their earning an A in the "Achievement" category (met the Chronic Absenteeism rate indicator) and a B in the "Improving At-Risk K-3 Readers" category. Since the Achievement category is weighted higher, their overall grade was an A. Northwood is one of only 11 Stark County schools and one of only 310 Ohio schools to earn this award.
Orchard Hill Intermediate School has earned the Momentum Award for the third consecutive year. This recognition is due to their earning A's in all four of the subcategories for the Progress Grade. Those categories are 1) All Students, 2) Gifted Students, 3) Students in Lowest 20% of Achievement, and 4) Students with Disabilities. Orchard Hill is one of only 10 Stark County schools and one of only 226 Ohio schools to earn this award. Additionally, they are one of only five Stark County schools and one of only 81 Ohio schools to earn the award for a third consecutive year (there are three Ohio schools that earned the award for a fourth consecutive year).
The North Canton City School District has also earned the Momentum Award for the second consecutive year, making it one of only three Stark County districts and one of only 70 Ohio districts to earn the award. We are one of only two Stark County districts that earned the award for a second consecutive year and one of only 51 total districts in Ohio who earned the award for either the second or third consecutive year. Thanks to all of you and your staffs for helping to contribute to this award.
