School Safety a Priority

As we prepare to begin another school year, we wanted to take a minute or two of your time to share some very important information. Within the last school year, school districts within the Stark County Educational Service Center have experienced

the loss of 14 school students by suicide. National experts, including the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, have labeled the mental health issues in our county and its districts as “a contagion,” declaring teen suicide rates here as the worst on record since it began tracking them in 1980.

Sandy Hook, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Parkland and so many other incidents remind us that school violence can happen anywhere and at any time. It is vital that we do all we can to keep our children as safe as possible.

On August 7th, Stark County residents will have the opportunity to vote in a special election to create an ongoing funding source to make our schools safer and more secure for teaching and learning.

We urge you to take this opportunity to cast your ballot, either in person or as an absentee. You can click on the link below to begin the absentee ballot application process.
