USDA approves Free Meals for all Students

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended its “Summer Serve” food program through December 31, 2020. Because of this extension, breakfast and lunch meals will be available to ALL North Canton City School students each school day at no cost, beginning on Tuesday, September 8.

Per the USDA and federal Summer Food Service Program, this free service applies to complete meals only. Individual items will be charged accordingly. For example, if students choose to buy only milk (or an extra milk), they will be charged fifty cents. However, if students order a full meal that includes milk, the meal is provided at no cost to the students.

Per the USDA, this program may be cancelled before December 31 if funding is depleted. Should the free breakfast and lunch program be cancelled, we will notify parents as soon as we receive that information. Because of the possibility of the cancellation of the program, it is IMPORTANT that parents complete free and reduced lunch applications for all eligible students for the 2020-21 school year. Enrollment for free and reduced lunch is available on the school district website at

We have already started our Viking Online Student Meal Pickup for our virtual students.
