North Canton City Schools Wins Award for Website

North Canton, OH (December 1, 2015)

Website Award

North Canton City Schools won the Web Marketing Association's 2015 WebAward for Standard of Excellence in the School category for its website, exceeding the industry average in the criteria of innovation, content, technology, interactivity, copywriting and ease of use.

The district shares the award with the designer and developer of the website, Innis Maggiore of Canton, the nation’s leading ad agency in the practice of positioning. The firm is considered one of the top digital agencies in the region.

Launched in 2014, the website (northcantonschools.org) gave North Canton City Schools a fresh look that centers around the Viking Strong brand, showcasing the district’s seven schools, programs and staff, and providing visitors with information about the district.

“We’re honored that our website has been recognized as one of the best,” said Michael Hartenstein, superintendent of NCCS. “With the rise of charter and online schools, it is imperative that North Canton residents understand everything we have to offer our students and families. The website is an effective way to attract families to our community and high-quality teachers to our schools. The award reinforces what we already know: that our website effectively capitalizes on our Viking Strong position and does an excellent job of capturing the essence of North Canton City Schools.”

“The increased national and local visibility gained from the website has helped North Canton City Schools stand out among other school districts,” said Jamie Smart, director of communications and special projects for NCCS. “The fresh visual design, intuitive navigation and engaging content make for a website that is both inviting and informative.”

Smart went on to point out the district has been receiving positive feedback from prospective families as well as calls from other districts looking to recreate something similar in their own web presence.

“These are the ultimate validations that our new approach is working,” said Smart.
