This morning, the North Canton Police Department, in cooperation with the North Canton School District Administration, conducted a K9 drug sweep at Hoover High School and North Canton Middle School.

2014-15 Free and Reduced Meal Program
North Canton City Schools announces its 2014-2015 program year policy for Free &
Reduced Priced Meals for students unable to pay the full price of meals served under the
National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program. Each school office and the District office has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by any interested party.

ALICE Training: An Informational Night for Parents
On Thursday, November 20th, the North Canton Police Department will present an overview of the ALICE training program that was implemented in the school district in the spring of 2013. This informational program will give parents a better understanding of the program and how it is implemented at both the K-5 grade level and the 6-12 grade level.

Ten-Year-Old “Junior Consultant” for Google Attends Chromebook Institute Great Lakes
When the Chromebook Institute Great Lakes rolls into North Canton, Ohio, during the last weekend in October, 10-year-old Jackson Quinn will be with them. Quinn will be attending his first conference as a newly named Google junior consultant and will be attending keynotes, special sessions, and networking with his mentor, Jamie Casap, Global Education Evangelist for Google and keynote for the Chromebook Institute Great Lakes.

Situation Update from NCCS
The Hoover High School staff member who potentially traveled on the same aircraft, although not the same flight as the Texas nurse, will be permitted to come back to work.
After an interview with the individual to assess any potential threat of transmission, Sherry A. Smith, Director of Nursing Services for the Stark County Health Department, said the staff member “poses no exposure risk” and can safely return to work.

Information Release
Earlier today, we learned that a Hoover High School staff member traveled from Dallas back to Cleveland on Frontier Airlines on Tuesday, the day after the Texas nurse with Ebola traveled. Even though our staff member was on a different flight, more than 12 hours later, there is a possibility that it was the same aircraft.

NCCS to Provide Flu Vaccines for All Students
North Canton City Schools has partnered with Health Heroes to provide flu vaccines to ALL consented school children regardless of their health insurance coverage. Flu vaccines will be provided at NO COST to students, parents, schools or local/state government.

NCCS to Host Community Open House October 9
North Canton City Schools will host an open house Thursday, October 9 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Hoover High School for parents, family members and the community to see Viking 21 in action. The evening will kick off with a presentation from Superintendent Michael Hartenstein.
