Early Childhood Center

Mary L. Evans Early Childhood Center

There is no better place to get your child started on the right educational path than at the Mary L. Evans Early Childhood Center. Located in the heart of scenic North Canton directly behind the North Canton Library and historic Hoover District, the affordable Early Childhood Center has been recognized as a 5-star Step Up to Quality (SUTQ) program by The Ohio Department of Education.

Serving preschoolers ages three to five, the Early Childhood Center nurtures young children as they begin to spend a few hours away from their homes, parents and familiar surroundings. While fostering the development of transitions between activities, our entire staff also establishes a love for learning, a strong foundation of the basic fundamentals critical to achieving and exceeding throughout their primary and secondary education.

Each of our lead teachers at the Early Childhood Center is credentialed with a four-year degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood. Additionally, each of our educational assistants maintain their professional development on a yearly basis by participating in coursework and local workshops.

We create and nurture an active learning environment that engages the young learners with interactive activities via Smart Boards, Eno Boards small group and large group activities and other proven tools.

Classrooms are balanced between typical peers and special education children, and applicants are screened to ensure a healthy compatibility in each of the half-day sessions for children ages three, four and five.

Busing is available to ensure convenient access to the centrally located Early Childhood Center. Visit our Department of Transportation (Bus Garage) page for ECC bus routes.

We invite you to come tour the Early Childhood Center and see for yourself how we’re starting students off on the right educational path. If you would like to schedule a tour or discuss registration, please email janet.peare@northcantonschools.org or call 330-497-5608. Enrollment is open to North Canton residents.
