 Business Foundations 
1 Period / 1 Credit Course Offered to 9th-11th Grade Students 
Students will learn business and marketing concepts, terminology, and applications. Course content is college level material. 
Business topics covered will include financial management, consumer issues and purchasing strategies, ethics, management skills, manufacturing and service industry operations strategies, business structure, investment options, and current trends and events.
Students will complete a stock market and investment project where they will be asked to create a diversified portfolio, invest in real estate, and purchase a car.
The marketing portion of the course will cover the concepts of sales, promotion, purchasing, pricing, and distribution.
Students who successfully complete and maintain a B average in all three classes in the Tech Prep Business Management curriculum will have an opportunity to gain up to 12 college credits!

Accounting I
1 Period / 1 Credit Course Offered to 9th-11th Grade Students 
Accounting is a one-year course highly recommended for any student planning to study business, accounting, or law in college. It is also recommended for those planning to own a business or professional practice. Students will learn how to analyze and record transactions, post to the general ledger, prepare financial reports for a sole proprietorship and for a corporation. Following common accounting procedures and principles will be stressed. Preparing payroll records and calculating taxes will be covered as well. All universities and colleges require accounting for every type of business major.

Business Management 
2 Period / 2 Credit Course Offered to Seniors Only
*Must have taken Intro to Bus/Mktg and Accounting 
This course will encourage students to learn how business functions and train students to meet the expectations of our fast-changing economy by providing them an opportunity to work with a local business professional and operate their own business by participating in the Junior Achievement Company Program. 
Through this hands-on experience, students will create a company, elect officers and fill positions in Human Resources, Finance, Production, Marketing, and Sales Departments. Students will write a business plan, study consumer behavior, perform market research, order products, create and maintain a website, develop marketing tools and sales strategies, track and fill orders, and package and distribute products.
Students will use software programs to effectively manage their student-run company, thereby gaining truly applicable skills for a future career in business. A senior portfolio will be created.
