The North Canton City School District developed a strategic plan in the fall of 2016. The mission statement is to “Inspire students; impact our community; change the world.” Recognizing the potential of students in NCCS, the district has a vision of being recognized as a trusted, leading organization for learning. The values inherent in such an organization are respect, grit, relationships and integrity. The goals in the strategic plan are to “increase collaboration, improve communication, improve efficiency and establish a growth mindset culture. Reflecting on the plan and goals set by the district, the district leadership emphasizes that a mission statement and a vision are of value if they are not practiced. Superintendent Jeff Wendorf explains, “We must take action to see our goals achieved. Putting words on paper is easy, but the hard work begins now to take steps to make North Canton City Schools a benchmark organization.”
The strategic plan grew out of a series of opportunities during the summer months of 2016 for the students, staff, teachers and community to express their thoughts about the school district. Through listening to their responses and compiling the results, a team was able to build the strategic plan that was implemented immediately. North Canton City Schools will work every day to fulfill the commitment expressed in the strategic mission.
