PIV Instructions:

The Pinnacle Internet Viewer (PIV) is a web site that allows you to access your student's records in real-time. You can use the PIV to review attendance information, check overall academic status, and see detailed grade information for specific classes in which your student is enrolled. Below you will find instructions for using the NCCS Pinnacle Internet Viewer. You can use the menu below to quickly jump to a section.

Accessing the Site:

  1. The direct web link to the PIV is http://pinnaclesuite.sparcc.org/Pinnacle/Gradebook
  2. You can either use that link, or if you go to the website for your school, you will be able to find the same link there. Depending upon the school, the link may be in a section labeled "Parents" or such.

Logging In:

  1. For the box labeled "Username" you need to type in your student's ID number, which is usually a 6 or 7-digit number. The student ID number can be found in many places including your student's schedule, interim report, and report cards.
  2. For the "Password" you need to enter your student's password. This password is given to you on a separate form, or you can get it from your child or your school's office.
    * NOTE - This password will NOT change from year to year. You will continue to use the same password each year.
    * NOTE - The password is in one of the two following forms:
    Option #1 - a 3-letter word, followed by a number, followed by a 3-letter word, followed by a number
    Option #2 - a 3-letter word, followed by a number, followed by a 4-letter word
    The first letter of each word is capitalized.
  3. For the "Domain" choose "North Canton City Schools" from the drop-down menu.
  4. Finally click the button labeled "Sign in"
  5. Once you are signed in, click the "Internet Viewer" on the left side of the screen.

Viewing General Reports:

The PIV has general reports and class-specific reports. The general reports are listed on the left-hand side of the PIV screen under "Student Reports". The two general reports are explained below:

  1. "Attendance Summary " - Click this report to see your student's schedule and any reported absences or tardies.
  2. "Grade Summary" - Click this report to see your student's grades for each grading period, semester exams (if applicable), semester averages, and course average.
  3. "Teacher Email" - Click here to get a links to staff emails for those who have provided them.

Viewing Class Reports:

Class reports show information for a specific subject. There are currently two class reports that you can view through the PIV. The reports are listed on the left-hand side of the PIV screen under "Class Reports". Each report is explained below:

  1. "Student Assignments" - This displays a detailed listing of all the assignments and grades for the selected class.
  2. "Student Missing Assignments" - This displays any missing assignments for the selected class.

To access any one of these Class Reports, do the following:

  1. In the "Class" drop-down menu, pick the subject you want.
  2. In the "Report" drop-down menu, pick the Class Report you want.
  3. In the "Marking Period" drop-down menu, pick the 9-Week Grading Period you want.
  4. Finally click the button labeled "Get Report".

Email Notification System:

You can sign up to have reports automatically sent to you through email with the Pinnacle Email Notification System. To use that system, do the following:

Enter email accounts:

Before you can sign up for email reports you have to enter the email account(s) you wish to use as follows:

  1. If you are in the PIV screen, click the "Home" link on the left side under the "Options" heading.  This will take you back to the main Pinnacle screen.
  2. Now click "Edit Profile" on the left under the "Options" heading on this screen.
  3. Here you can now enter your email address(es).
  4. You can add multiple addresses.  For each one you need to identify it as "Home", "Work", or "Other".
  5. You can delete an address if needed by clicking the trashcan icon.
  6. When done, click "Save".
  7. You can now click the "Home" button at the top to return to the main Pinnacle screen.
  8. Repeat this process in the future if you need to add, edit, or delete your email address(es).

Sign up for email reports:

Now that you have email addresses in the Pinnacle system, you can pick reports you would like to have emailed to you:

  1. Start by returning to the PIV screen (click "Internet Viewer" from the main Pinnacle screen if needed).
  2. On the bottom left side of the PIV screen, under "Options", click "Email Subscriptions"
  3. Now you can check:
    1. Which reports you want emailed
    2. Which days you would liek them emailed
    3. Which cut off scores to use to trigger class grade reports
    4. Which email accounts to send the report to ("Home", "Work", "Other").
  4. Click "Save" when done.
  5. Once this process is complete, you will begin to receive email reports from the PIV system.
