Hoover High documentary remembered PDF Print E-mail

ParadiseWLOX News in New Orleans ran a story recently about the connection between North Canton Hoover High and Bay St. Louis Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina.  Hoover students raised over $14,000 for Bay High that year.  Six months after the storm, Hoover teachers Valeta Drake and Tom Wilson had the opportunity to take students from broadcast journalism and video productions to the gulf to produce a documentary about the devastation and attempts to rebuild.  See below for links to the WLOX story and the original Hoover High School documentary:

PIV now active and ready for use PDF Print E-mail

pivThe Pinnacle Internet Viewer (PIV) is now ready and active for student and parent sign in.  The PIV  is a web site that allows you to access your student’s records in real-time, including attendance information, overall academic status, and detailed grade information for specific classes in which your student is enrolled.

Note: Student passwords do not change from year to year so you will use the same password as last year.  Students who do not recall their password or did not have one previously should receive them the first week of school.  Additionally the school will be providing PIV Parent Letters that include student ID's and passwords.  These PIV Parent Letters may be available at parent nights /open houses, or may be sent home with students depending upon the school.

HS Parent Night / Open House PDF Print E-mail

Hoover High School will hold Parents Night/Open House on Monday, August 30, 2010, from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.  The purpose of Parents Night is to give parents an opportunity to acquaint themselves with their student’s teachers and classes.

Teachers will be discussing course content, goals, expectations, grading procedures, and other items of interest.  Each presentation will be followed by a short question and answer period.  Teachers will not have time to talk about individual student concerns.  Parents wishing to discuss individual needs with particular teachers will be able to make arrangements for a parent/teacher conference which will be held on October 7, 2010, 4:30 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.; November 11, 2010, 4:30 – 8:00 p.m., February 3, 2011, 4:30 – 8:00 p.m., and March 7, 2011 4:30 – 8:00 p.m.

The school floor plan is in the PDF document linked below, and students will be stationed throughout the building to help direct you to classrooms.

The guidance counselors will be in their respective offices.  They will answer questions relative to the guidance program.  Principals will also be available for concerns.

Parents, please have your child complete the bottom portion of the PDF document linked below with his/her schedule and bring this with you on Monday night.

Refreshments will be provided for you in the Commons during study hall or other free time in your student’s schedule.  There will also be table displays in the Commons describing the many extra-curricular activities at Hoover High School.

I hope that Parents Night will be an informative and enjoyable evening for you.

Pay-For-It Lunch Account System Back Online PDF Print E-mail

school_lunch_trayAs of August 1, 2010 the Pay-For-It lunch account system is back online for the new year.  Parents may begin using the system again to deposit money onto their children's lunch accounts.  This year the transaction fee has been reduced from 5.75% to 4.75%.

International Baccalaureate PDF Print E-mail

IB World School to begin at Jackson High School in the fall of 2010

The Collaborative Jackson Local Schools, North Canton Local Schools and Perry Local Schools International Baccalaureate Diploma Program was recently authorized by the directing council of International Baccalaureate World Schools for Fall 2010.   We are now officially an IB World School and our classes will begin on August 31st, 2010.    Students in the initial year of the program have the Diploma Program option and are committing to a two-year program of study.

Parents and students in freshman and sophomore classes at these three schools who are interested in finding out more about the IB program of study for their junior and senior years should contact any of the following individuals:
