North Canton City Schools PIV Instructions:
The Pinnacle Internet Viewer (PIV) is a web site that allows you to access your student's records in real-time. You can use the PIV to review attendance information, check overall academic status, and see detailed grade information for specific classes in which your student is enrolled. Below you will find instructions for using the NCCS Pinnacle Internet Viewer. You can use the menu below to quickly jump to a section. Accessing the Site: - The direct web link to the PIV is http://hoover.sparcc.org/pinnacle/piv/
- You can either use that link, or if you go to the website for your school, you will be able to find the same link there. Depending upon the school, the link may be in a section labeled "Parent Resources" or such.

Logging In: - For the box labeled "User name" you need to type in your student's ID number, which is usually a 5 or 6-digit number. The student ID number can be found in many places including your student's schedule, interim report, and report cards.
- For the "Password" you need to enter your student's password. This password was given to you on a separate form, or you can get it from your child.
* NOTE - This password will NOT change for the entire school year. You will continue to use the same password all year. * NOTE - The password is in the form of a 3-letter word, followed by a single-digit number, followed by another 3-letter word. The first letter of each 3-letter word is capitalized. - For the "School" choose the name of your school from the drop-down menu.
- Finally click the button labeled "Login" to log in.

Viewing General Reports: The PIV has general reports and class-specific reports. The general reports are listed on the left-hand side of the PIV screen under "Student Reports". The two general reports are explained below: - "Attendance Summary " - Click this report to see your student's schedule and any reported absences or tardies.
- "Grade Summary" - Click this report to see your student's grades for each grading period, semester exams (if applicable), semester averages, and course average.
- "Teacher Email" - Click here to get a links to staff emails for those who have provided them.

Viewing Class Reports: Class reports show information for a specific subject. There are currently three class reports that you can view through the PIV. The reports are listed on the left-hand side of the PIV screen under "Class Reports". Each report is explained below: - "Class Attendance Summary" - This displays your student's attendance information for the selected class.
- "Class Missing Grades" - This displays any missing assignments for the selected class.
- "Student Assignments" - This displays a detailed listing of all the assignments and grades for the selected class.
To access any one of these Class Reports, do the following: - In the "Class" drop-down menu, pick the subject you want.
- In the "Report" drop-down menu, pick the Class Report you want.
- In the "Marking Period" drop-down menu, pick the 9-Week Grading Period you want.
- Finally click the button labeled "Get Report".

Email Notification System (ENS): You can sign up to have reports automatically sent to you through email with the Pinnacle Email Notification System. To use that system, do the following: - On the bottom left side of the PIV screen, under "Options", click "Email Notification"
- Type in your email address in the box labeled "Enter your email address here".
NOTE: Please type your email address very carefully to avoid any problems or delays. - Next click the button labeled "Sign In".
- Now you will go to the Email Report Selection screen where you can choose the reports you wish to have emailed to you.
- First fill in your name as you wish it to appear in the box labeled "Enter your name".
- Now pick which reports you want emailed and when you want them sent:
- Check the box labeled "Automatic Unexcused Absence Notification" to be sent an email any time your student has an unexcused absence.
- Check the box labeled "Attendance Summary" to get an attendance report emailed to you. You must also choose how often the report is to be sent by selecting that from the drop-down box on the right.
- Check the box labeled "Student Assignments" to get a detailed report including grades for all assignments in all classes and what assignments are missing. You must also choose how often the report is to be sent by selecting that from the drop-down box on the right.
- Check the box labeled "Grade Summary" to get a simple report with just the current letter grade for each class. You must also choose how often the report is to be sent by selecting that from the drop-down box on the right.
- Check the box labeled "Automatic Grade Notification" to receive a report anytime your student's grade falls below or goes above a level you determine. You must set what this criteria is using the drop-down boxes to the right.
- When done with your selections, click the button labeled "Submit Notification Request".
- You will now go to the "Email Report Selection Results" page where you will see a confirmation of all the reports you have requested.
- If this is the first time you have signed up, you will receive an email message asking you to verify your request. Follow the instructions in the section below to complete the sign up process.
- Once this process is complete, you will begin to receive email reports from the PIV system.

Verifying Your Email Address: The first time you sign up to use the Email Notification System, you will be sent an email asking you to verify your address. Here is what you need to do: - Get your email as usual.
- Look for an email with the subject "Parent Email Notification Validation".
- Open and read that email message.
- At the bottom of the message will be a link labeled "Click Here to Authorize".
- Click that link.
- Your web browser will now open with a message thanking you for validating your email address.
- In the next few days you will begin receiving the email reports you requested.
