PIV now active and ready for use

The Pinnacle Internet Viewer (PIV) is now ready and active for student and parent sign in. The PIV is a web site that allows you to access your student’s records in real-time, including attendance information, overall academic status, and detailed grade information for specific classes in which your student is enrolled.

Note: Student passwords do not change from year to year so you will use the same password as last year. Students who do not recall their password or did not have one previously should receive them the first week of school. Additionally the school will be providing PIV Parent Letters that include student ID's and passwords. These PIV Parent Letters may be available at parent nights /open houses, or may be sent home with students depending upon the school.

Gifted and Talented Information

In accordance with House Bill 282, gifted and talented identification procedures are in place in the North Canton City Schools for kindergarten through grade 12.

Bus Routes Available

School bus routes are now ready and available online. Click here to access them.

Pay-For-It Lunch Account System Back Online

school_lunch_tray As of August 1, 2010 the Pay-For-It lunch account system is back online for the new year. Parents may begin using the system again to deposit money onto their children's lunch accounts. This year the transaction fee has been reduced from 5.75% to 4.75%.

Summer Reading Program

Make reading fun by participating in the summer reading programs at the local libraries! The North Canton Public Library as well as all branches of the Stark County District Library have lots of fun, educational, FREE programs this summer! Calendars of events are available from the library web pages or at any library branch. Borders Bookstore is even getting into the act with a free book for any child who reads ten books this summer. Forms for Greentown’s summer reading program went out this week and remember that any time spent reading for other programs qualifies as time for Greentown’s program, so keep track of those minutes and “take a bite out of reading” this summer!

Character Champions - May 2010

Greentown Elementary, in conjunction with the North Canton YMCA, has a monthly award to recognize students who portray outstanding qualities of being a good citizen. Each recipient has been nominated by his/her classroom teacher as well as the art, music, library, and gym teachers to ensure that these students set a good example for others throughout their entire school day schedule. Such traits include trustworthiness, honesty, respectful, helpful, and compassionate to fellow students. This is a non-academic award; rather one that acknowledges the behaviors of those boys and girls who consistently do the right things for the right reasons. The recipients of the award have had their names announced, their pictures placed on a special “Character Champion” bulletin board in the cafeteria, received a personalized letter from the YMCA and Greentown School, and a one of a kind key ring.
